Flood waters damage over 2,000 houses in two Bihar districts

Patna, July 4 (ANI): Flood waters have reportedly entered over 2,000 houses in Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi districts of Bihar following a breach in the embankment of the Bagmati River on Monday morning.

Media reports said that low lying areas of the two districts have been flooded, and added that waters of the Rato River have ravaged the Sri Khandi Bhitha village that borders Nepal in Sitamarhi district.

Villager have been evacuated to shelters located at a higher level.

Flash floods caused by incessant rains in the catchment areas of the Gandak River and heavy discharge of water from Vamikinagar barrage have inundated several villages in Goalganj district also.

Bihar's Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said the state government is taking steps to control the damage and ensure the safety of the villagers. (ANI)
