Jorhat, June 26 (ANI): Nearly 3000 solar lamps were distributed among young students in Assam's Jorhat district.

The initiative was taken under Assam Bikash Yojana scheme to encourage students in the rural areas, as even today there are many villages in the region that are not electrified creating a bottleneck situation for the students.

These lamps will bring some relief to them as they could now study even at nights.

Achievers from class 8 to 12 standard were also felicitated in a bid to further encourage them for hard work.We provided solar lamps, which will be helpful for the poor students who reside in no electricity zone," Kamal Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Jorhat District

"I am extremely happy today, they really encourage us. Now I will not have much problem in my studies," Suraj Tamur, a student. (ANI)
