Meghalaya, June 4 (ANI): To manage the growing traffic in Shillong, the state government in a joint collaboration with a foreign company is planning to introduce cable cars in the region.

The estimated cost stands at Rs 338 crores for 9.8 km. The project will not only reduce traffic, but also generate jobs for people.

"When there is no way out tight road and growing traffic congestion cable car is the solution," said Satish Pathania, Managing Director, Leading Edge Adventures and Airparks Pvt. Ltd.

He said the company had already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nagaland government last year to start cable cars in Kohima for 9.8 km at the cost of around Rs 3.88 crore.

A cable car is any of a variety of transportation systems relying on cables to pull vehicles along or lower them at a steady rate, or a vehicle on these systems. (ANI)
