Murray not fearful of facing Nadal on clay

London, Jun 2 (ANI): After booking a French Open semi-final showdown with Rafa Nadal, British ace Andy Murray has said he is not afraid to face the World No.1 on his favourite surface.

Murray defeated Juan Ignacio Chela to set up the clash with Nadal on Friday.

Nadal has lost just once in six years here in Paris, but Murray said: "I feel I can do it. It's just a case of making sure that come Friday I play my best tennis. I have to play a very consistent match and be mentally strong."

"Tactically I'm going to have to be very good. So I can definitely win," The Sun quoted Murray, as saying.

Nadal went through with a straight-sets victory over world No 5 Robin Soderling.

Murray, who seemed to have put his ankle injury problem behind him to win 7-6 7-5 6-2, said: "Rafa's record here is incredible. Over the next two days I need to make sure I do all the right things, watch videos of matches I've played against him, and recover."

"I'm surprised I'm here because I haven't actually played that well. But it's not worth going through what I've gone through the last four or five days to just be happy getting to the semis," he said.

Murray is the first British man since Fred Perry in the 30s to reach the last four at every grand slam. (ANI)
