PPP asks PML-N to show political maturity

Islamabad , Mon, 30 May 2011 ANI

Islamabad, May 30 (ANI): Pakistan People's Party (PPP) member Babar Awan has said the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should show political maturity as the country is passing through difficult times.

Reacting to Nawaz Sharif's warning of a public mutiny, Awan said he "should not adopt a non-serious attitude and mislead the nation asking it to revolt against the government".

Babar questioned as to what kind of revolution Sharif demanded: "whether it is against parliament, constitution, democracy or law and order?"

He accused Sharif of playing the politics of division and separation and said the PPP has always played the politics of federation and reconciliation, The Daily Times reports.

Pakistan Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdaus Ashiq Awan said PPP believed in the politics of reconciliation and was not afraid of Sharif's threatening statements.

She said an independent commission, for probing Abbottabad operation, would be set up after consultations with all political parties rather than being dictated by a single party.

PPP Information Secretary Qamaruzaman Kaira accused PML-N of starting a politics of hatred and confrontation and said the PPP would not allow anyone to derail Pakistan's democracy. (ANI)
