Kuala Lumpur, May 26 (ANI): Hindraf Makkal Sakti (Hindraf) has filed a judicial review petition to be a registered as a non-governmental organization.
Its pro team secretary, P. Ramesh, has filed the application via the legal firm Messrs M. Manoharan and Co. in the High Court, the Star reports.
Ramesh named Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, the Registrar of Societies (ROS) and the Federal Territory ROS as respondents.
Ramesh sought a certiorari order to dismiss the respondents' petition of not registering Hindraf as an NGO, in accordance with Article10(1)(c) of the Malaysian Constitution,which guarantees the right to form associations to the citizens.
He is also seeking a mandamus order for the respondents to approve and register Hindraf as an NGO. (ANI)
