Orissa Police initiates action against Maoists who killed Malkangiri tribals

Malkangiri (Orissa), Apr 12 (ANI): Orissa Police has swung into action over the recent killing of two tribals in Malkangiri district by suspected Maoist cadres.

 

According to reports, the ultras believed to be behind the kidnapping of Malkangiri Collector R Vineel Krishna, shot dead the two tribals Sanyasi Barge and Tapel Gangeya on charges of being 'police informers' on April 2.

 

Maoists held a 'praja court' at Naguluru village under Kalimela block on April 2 and killed the two. The incident, which took place in Populur gram panchayat, an area where Maoists are more entrenched than in the cut-off area, was not reported to the police earlier.

 

Malkangiri District Collector Vineel Krishna, who was abducted by the Maoists on February 16, was released on February 24 after a nine-day hostage drama. (ANI)
