Guwahati, Apr 10(ANI): Security arrangements in Guwahati, Assam, have been beefed up ahead of the final phase of the state legislative polls.

Assam is holding elections to the state legislature in two-phases.

The first phase of elections was conducted on April 4 in 62 of the 126 constituencies amid tight security, while the second phase will be conducted on Monday for the remaining 64 constituencies.

While praising the security arrangements, Bhubaneshwar Dikka, a poll officer, stated that he underwent good training.

"Preparation is ok, we have got good training and the authorities they are giving good facilities. Now, we are ready to move to our polling booths," he said.

He further hinted of some exclusive measures being adopted by the authorities.

"We have undergone three days training, and the last one is very exclusive. This time in the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) actually systems were changed. It was not like earlier, we have got good training and our trainers are also ok. We are well apprised of the handbook for polling measures," Dikka said.

The Election Commission had observed that the first phase of polls registered a voter turnout of over 70 percent. The results would be declared on May 13. (ANI)
