Barsana, Mon, 14 Mar 2011 ANI

Barsana, Mar 14(ANI): The tossing of laddoos at each other marked holi revelries in Uttar Pradesh's Barsana town.

Barsana, located about 50 kilometres from Mathura has the only temple dedicated to Lord Krishna's consort Radha.

People from different parts of the country visit Barsana to celebrate the festival.

Heena, a participant from Punjab, said: "It is a wonderful experience. We are a group of 82 who have come from Punjab. We enjoy a lot here and we are glad to play Holi here. We have seen Laddoo Holi and we will also participate in Lathmar Holi"

Laddoos, a round shaped sweet made of gram flour is regarded as an offering from divinity.

Laddoo Holi is celebrated by those who believe Lord Krishna came here from Nandgoan to play with Radha.

In Vrindavan and Mathura, where Lord Krishna grew up, the festival is celebrated until Ranga Panchmi, the day of Holi.

Laddoo Holi comes a day before the town celebrates Lathmar Holi, where women chase away their menfolk with sticks.

In Mathura Holi is celebrated for ten days. (ANI)
