Muslims demand 20 percent reservation

Muzaffarnagar , Mon, 07 Mar 2011 ANI

Muzaffarnagar, Mar.7 (ANI): Hundreds of Muslims have staged a massive demonstration in Muzaffarnagar demanding 20 percent reservation for the community in every field.

Mutthida Mahaj, a Muslim leader, said that apart from the 20 percent reservation, they want all the schoolteachers who were removed from their posts and the doctors whose degrees were cancelled to be reinstated.

Mahaj said: "This protest is for reservation for Muslims. Our first demand is that Muslims should get 20 percent reservation in every field. Secondly, the 5000 Urdu teachers who were employed and are now being removed from the post with the court's directive should be reinstated. Thirdly, doctors whose degrees have been cancelled should also be reinstated."

" There are two, three more matters. Our protest has started from Muzaffarnagar and you must have seen thousands of people have gathered through... by god's grace they will spread in the whole country," he added.

Mahaj also said that if the government does not agree to the demands of Muslims then they would be forced to launch a nationwide protest movement.

He also urged the inclusion of Muslims and Christian Dalits in Scheduled Caste list. (ANI)
