WITH SUPPORT OF SIGNATURES FROM LAKHS OF CITIZENS, DELHI BJP WILL APPROACH PRESIDENT OF INDIA DR. PRANAB MUKHERJEE TO DEMAND CBI INQUIRY INTO DELHI JAL BOARD WORKING INCLUDING THE RS. 400 CRORES WATER TANKER SCAM
New Delhi 13th June: BJP Delhi General Secretaries Shri Ashish Sood & Smt. Rekha Gupta today at a Press Conference said that Delhi Jal Board has become a centre of corruption and like the predecessor Sheila Diskhit Government the present Arvind Kejriwal regime too is taking its share in corruption and giving silent patronage to the nefarious nexus of officials and contractors. Delhi BJP Media Incharge Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor was present at the press conference.
General Secretary Shri Ashish Sood said that Kejriwal Government came to power by pretending to be anti corruption crusaders. The hollowness of their intention to fight corruption got exposed in December 2013 itself when Kejriwal formed Government with Congress support but the way now CM Kejriwal is sitting upon the report of the Fact Finding Committee formed by his own Minister Kapil Mishra who had in a letter on 28thAugust, 2015 recommended to the C.M. to take action against the culprits of Rs. 400 crores Water Tanker Scam in Delhi Jal Board. It is evidently clear the C.M. Kejriwal is saving the culprits, perhaps the C.M. has some self interest in suppressing this scam.
Shir Ashish Sood said those who are avoiding inquiry or saving the culprits are as much guilty in the matter as those who indulged in direct corruption. Kejriwal Government has made it a practice to call Delhi Assembly session for frivolous political reasons. Delhi BJP challenges the Kejriwal Government to call a special session of the Assembly to discuss on corruption in Delhi Jal Board especially on the Rs. 400 crores Water Tanker Scam. In this special session the Leader of the Opposition should be first allowed to place Charge Sheet on Delhi Jal Board and thereafter Government should reply whether there are scams in Delhi Jal Board or not.
General Secretary Smt. Rekha Gupta said that Delhi Jal Board is a white Elephant which has been a centre of corruption ever since the formation of first Sheila Dikshit Government in 1998. The employees, engineers & officials are unbridled. There is corruption in every deal of Delhi Jal Board be it of laying of sewer lines or water lines or even regular maintenance work.
Shri Ashish Sood & Smt. Rekha Gupta said that Kejriwal Government came to power selling the dream of free water for all and even today claims to give free water & waiving the bills but the truth of the claims has been exposed by the news of women having to fight among themselves for a bucket of water in the national capital. A few days back while flagging of 429 new Water Tankers Kejriwal Government had said that now there will be no water crisis in Delhi but the news of water crisis appearing in newspapers these days tell that the tanker water is not reaching the common man.
Shri Ashish Sood announced that Delhi BJP will now run a public awareness campaign to apprise the people about the Rs. 400 crores Delhi Jal Board Water Tanker Scam along with a campaign to obtain signatures of Delhi citizens in the matter. Through this signature campaign Delhi BJP will apprise and mobilise public opinion in support of a CBI inquiry into this Water Tanker Scam. The party intends to collect lakhs of signatures in next few days and they will hand over to the President of India Dr. Pranab Mukherjee a memorandum demanding a thorough CBI inquiry into Delhi Jal Board working including the Rs. 400 crores Water Tanker Scam.
The BJP Leaders said that in the Assembly session the BJP Legislators will force Delhi Government to discuss on Delhi Jal Board Scams while outside the Assembly complex the BJP candidates in last assembly polls will demonstrate to raise the demand of inquiry into Delhi Jal Board affairs.
