LG's Five Smartphones to Make CES Debut Next Year: Things to Expect from the New Devices

LG has declared its plan of rolling out five new Smartphones for the upcoming CES. The official news confirms the launch of four handsets belonging to the new K-series and a latest Stylus phone. The mass-tier phones would bring the class technology features of the famous brand like fingerprint sensors and 120-degree wide angle selfie snapper to the consumers.

As per the announcement, the phones to be exhibited in the CES 2017, which is scheduled for January, are K3, K4, K8, K10 and Stylus 3. All the devices shall target the mid-range segment in the market and the electronics company expects that is portfolio would get the much required boost with the new models making their entry.

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is global trade show of consumer electronics, as well as, other technology products and it takes place every year in January in Las Vegas. It is owned and presented by Consumer Technology Association (formerly CEA) and is considered to be the biggest launch pad of the new age innovations.

The South Korean electronics major has not divulged the details like the prices, release date and availability of the handsets, but has published the specifications of the 4G LTE supporting phones. All the remaining information is expected to reach the consumers through the world’s largest trade fair next year.

On the occasion of the official announcement, the President of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Juno Cho commented, “Our 2017 mass-tier, mid-range smartphones focus on giving our customers a wide variety of options and choices for their smartphone lifestyles.” He added, “What's consistent in all our K Series and Stylus 3 devices is that they look and feel premium, offer replaceable batteries and all come with expandable memory slots, what customers consider key factors when buying smartphones in this category.”

The following specifications are issued by LG in respect of the new launches:

LG Stylus 3 To appeal to the masses, LG has brought the third generation of its Stylus handsets which will be named as LG Stylus 3. With a 13-megapixel rare and 8-megapixel selfie shooter, the device is a great deal. It comes with a 5.7 inch High Definition (HD) display with resolution measuring 720x1280 pixels which, of course, would support a Stylus Pen. The storage capacity of the ‘Phablet’ would be 16 GB in case of inbuilt storage and 3 GB in case of RAM and the former with the former being expandable up to 2 TB via microSD card. The phone is supported by Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor and is packed with 3700 mAh battery and run on Android v7.0 Nougat.

The USP of the device is the fiber-tip (1.88mm diameter) for giving the feel of an actual Pen. It also features enhanced UX with Pen Pop 2.0, fingerprint scanner and FM radio. All-in-all the new model may be considered as the low-budgeted and a less terrific alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that suffered a bad fate.

LG K10 The K10 sporting a 5.3-inch screen, the same resolution as Stylus 3 and pixel density of 277ppi is the biggest phone of the K-series. The device is supported by the same processor as that of Stylus 3 and comes pre-bundled with 2GB RAM and 2800 mAh removable battery. The model has two variants of 16GB and 32GB inbuilt memory which can be expanded up to 2TB using microSD card. There is a 5-megapixel front camera (120 degree wide angle selfie lens) and 13-megapixel back camera for images and video recording. The operating software for the phone is Android v7.0 Nougat and the colours available would be Titan, Black and Gold. Other features of the phone are 2.5D Arc Glass design, metallic U frame and fingerprint scanner.

LG K8 This phone is a high-quality camera performer embedded with 13MP rear snapper and 5MP front camera with enhancement by LG’s UX features namely Auto Shot and Gesture Shot. The 5-inch In-Cell Touch HD Display (294ppi and 720x1280 resolution) model runs on Android v7.0 Nougat and contains a 2500 mAh removable battery. It is powered by 1.4GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 1.5 GB RAM. Also, it has a 16GB inbuilt memory expandable using microSD card up to 32GB. The colour options available in its case are Dark Blue, Gold, Titan and Silver.

LG K4 This cheaper model of the K-series has 5-inch FWVGA In-Cell Touch display of pixel density 196ppi and resolution measuring 480x854. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor powers the phone, which runs on 1 GB RAM and 8GB expandable (up to 32 GB) inbuilt memory. The phone has 5MP camera both at the rear and front with the popular enhancing features Auto Shot and Gesture Shot. Available in Titan and Black, the phone has a 7.9 mm profile, 2500mAh removable battery and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

LG K3 The smallest and the cheapest among the range, it features a 4.5-inch FWVGA On-Cell Touch display with same resolution as K4. It sports a 2 MP sensor (with Gesture Shot) in the front and 5MP LED-enabled camera on its rear. It is powered by the same 1.1 GHz processor and storage as K4. Backed by a 2100 mAh battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the Smartphone contains many features which are absent in the same range models.
