FYUP issue, government has fulfilled its promise: Dr. Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, Mon, 23 Jun 2014 NI Wire

BJP Delhi Pradesh President and Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that the Government has fulfilled its promise to replace the FYUP by three year under graduate course which was included in the election manifesto of BJP in view of the interests of the students. If any other step is required to be taken, the Government will not hesitate.

Former DUTA President and former BJP Delhi Pradesh President Prof. Om Prakash Kohli said that DUTA has always been protesting against the FYUP. Hence, the decision of the Government is commendable.

Former DUSU President and Delhi BJP Vice President Ashish Sood has welcomed the UGC order to Delhi University and its Colleges on the Roll Back of the controversial FYUP programme which was constantly being opposed by the Students, Teachers and University fraternity since last year when it was forcefully implemented by the Delhi University authorities ostensibly under verbal instructions of former HRD Minister Mr Kapil Sibbal.

Ashish Sood also extended the good wishes and appreciation of the Students and parents of Delhi to HRD Minister Smriti Irani Ji for having acted upon the promise of BJP made in its Election Manifesto on the Roll Back of FYUP at Delhi University without delay and felicitated a quick decision on the issue between MHRD and UGC.

Sood has expressed dismay over the mindless and obstinate attitude of the Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Singh on FYUP by ignoring the interests of the students and Delhi University just to uphold the whims and fancies of some political boss. Delhi University is under extreme pressure to accommodate growing number of applicants for admission from Delhi and other states and to improve its functioning, even in the 3 year graduation system. He said that Delhi University Vice Chancellor shoud seriously think of quitting if he is unable to work for the mass than just the class and their education for which BJP is committed.
