World Book Fair: Seminar on E-publishing organised

Afro-Asian Book Council organized a discussion on print books and upcoming trend of e-books in the Afro-Asian region. Mr G V G Krishna Murthy, former Election Commissioner was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr A Sethumadhavan, Chairman, NBT; Dr M A Sikandar, Director, NBT and Mr. Ramachandran were awarded by the Council for their contribution in promoting books and reading culture in the region. Mr Vijaythayappa, newly appointed chairman of Afro-Asian Council, Dr Dayo Alabi, Mr S K Khurana, Dr Terry O’brien among others were present on the occasion.A Seminar on E-publishing was organized in Auditorium, Hall No. 7 where deliberations were made regarding e-publishing and e-marketing in relevance to Indian scenario. Mr Kailash Balan, Mr Sudhir Malhotra, Dr Haralz Henzler among others participated in the seminar.

A lively interaction with children on the topic What do you want to read? was organized by NBT in association with Lekhika Sangh at the Theme Pavilion, Hall No. 7E. Noted authors and litterateurs working in the field of children’s literature including Dr Madhu Pant, Ms Vibha Devsare, Ms. Neera Verma, Ms. Swaran Prabha, Ms. Shipra, Ms. Susheel Sharma, Ms. Seema, Rajeev Tambe were present on the occasion.

A panel discussion on the topic Importance of Research and Networking in TYA (Theatre for the Young Audience) was organized by NBT in association with Assitej India at the Theme Pavilion. Prof. Dr. Manon van de Water, University of Wisconsin, USA, was the guest speaker on the occasion. She talked about the importance of theatre as an educational tool for children.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rajokri in association with NBT organized a workshop on How to write a graphic novel/comic? for children in the Theme Pavilion. In this workshop, children were given tips to create comics. They were told that developing a comic or a graphic novel is not difficult even if you are not good at drawing the only basic required is imagination. The Dastangoi Performance by Ms Poonam Girdhani and Fauzia enthralled the audience. An interaction with the author Ms. Bina Kapoor and illustrator Ms. Priya Kurien was also organized at the theme pavilion.
