The playback legend Manna Dey, 94 was admitted in a hospital on Saturday following a
chest infection and is being going under treatment at a private hospital.
Though, his condition is said to be stable for the time being.
Manna Dey with his mesmerizing voice has entertained the music lovers for
decades and the entire country is praying for his recovery as soon as possible.
Manna Dey, a famous and legendary singer of Hindi and Bengali films has
recorded over
3,500 songs in his entire career. Born on 1 May 1919, Manna's real name is Prabodh
Chandra Dey.
Manna Dey has received many awards and accolades in his entire career for his singing
including National Film Award, Filmfare Award, and Lifetime Achievement award in
2005.
He was also honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 1971, Padma Bhushan in 2005 and
Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007. A documentary on Padma shri Manna Dey 'Jibaner Jalsaghore'
was also released in 2008.
Manna Dey married Sulochana Kumaran on 18 December 1953, who died last year
after suffering from cancer.
