Famous Bengali director and actor Rituparno Ghosh died at 49 following a cardiac arrest at Kolkata today morning at 7.30 am.
Ghosh, known for making classic cinemas had won 12 National Awards any many international accolades started his career in films with the release of his debut film Hirer Angti in 1994. Since then, he never looked back and made some real good cinema that includes Abohoman, Katha Deithilli Ma Ku, Unishe April, Dahan, Dosor, The Last Lear,Shob Charitro Kalponik, Chokher Bali, Raincoat and many others.
Ghosh also directed, wrote and acted in the semi-autobiographical film Chitrangada, a character from epic Mahabharata which told the story of a choreographer who struggles with gender and identity. The film won him a special jury award at this year's National Film Awards.
Rituparno Ghosh would have turned 50 on August 31.
