Photo exhibition 'Picture Perfect Delhi' inaugurated

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurates the photo exhibition 'Picture Perfect Delhi' and gave away the prize to the winners. The exhibition was dedicated to a month long photography contest, which is understood to be the first of its kind event in India dedicated to a city.

Dikshit Delhi congratulated the winners and all the participants and said that it was truly an emotional experience to see Delhi in all its shades and hues and more importantly through the eyes of the people. She added, Picture Perfect Delhi was a unique platform for people to connect and bond with their city and she felt proud to see such outpouring of love and pride of Delhiite for their city. Mr. Raghu Rai, on the other hand, was impressed by the way people expressed themselves in such a creative and artistic manner and in such a large number.

Picture Perfect Delhi was organised by Delhi Government as an initiative to help citizens connect and bond with their city and bring them closer to art. The theme for the event was 'Delhi’'and invited people from all walks of life to capture the idiosyncrasies of a city which takes immense pride in its history, art & culture, architecture, food, people and so on.

The month long contest received an overwhelming response of more than 24,000 entries from the participants. These entries have been judged by a very special jury, which included amongst others Sheila Dikshit Chief Minister of Delhi and renowned photographer Raghu Rai.

In all there were 34 winning entries, Manavendra Vashist won the first prize of One lakh, Subhash Paul, Gaurav Chhabra and Jyoti Kapoor won second prize worth 75,000/- each, the third prize of 50,000/- each has gone Ashish Rehi, Amarjeet Kumar Singh, Manish, Ashwani Kumar Sharma and Mahesh Singh.

The Exhibition showcasing about 400 selected photographs will remain open till Wednesday 27th Feb.
