Film is loosely based on the issue of land scam and is a satirical comedy.
Story:
Story of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola takes place in a small typical Haryana village where there is no electricity and other facilities. Harry Mandola, an inhabitant of this village and a rich industrialist wants to acquire the agricultural land to set up a factory in the village.
Hukum Singh Matru is an unemployed LLB graduate from Delhi University who like his family becomes a loyal servant of Mandola's family. He carries all the illegal or wrong work for Mandola.
Mandola's dreams comes a bit closer when he finds out that his daughter Bijlee while studying in Oxford University has fallen in love with Baadal, son of a powerful politician in that region, Chaudhari Devi.
Chaudhari Devi too wants to make quick money so she decides to help as much as she can to acquire the fertile land for a proposed special economic zone.
Matru who at first is attracted towards Bijlee slowly falls in love and their starts a complicated love triangle.
Meanwhile story takes few turns where Matru realizes the suffering of peasants of the village and these events changes lives of Matru, Bijlee and Mandola.
Review:
Film is a typical trademark of Vishal Bharadwaj. It has its part of comedy and laughs especially when Pankaj Kapoor gets drunk and talks to his Pink Buffalo. Though the film revolves around land scam and is a satire on Political system, it also has a cute small love story.
Pankaj Kapoor is superb, amazing when he is doing comedy, when he gets angry, when he is normal and even when he is drunk.
From the very first scene when Anushka comes out of a pond she looks real hot (dekho magar pyaar se).
But the main attraction of the movie is a rustic Haryanvi munda - Imran Khan. He has perfectly donned the role who gets angry, romances with the lady and fight for a cause at the end.
Aryan Babbar and Shabana Azmi have not much to do in their small roles.
A typical Haryana village and its inhabitants, the problems they face in their day-to-day life have been superbly shown by cinematographer Kartik Vijay.
Story of the film gets a little mixed up in the middle may be because of collision of a love story to a political satire film. It could have been better that Vishal would have stayed in one area. But overall he has touched every part and film is worth a one-time watch.
