Clarke told umpire Dar `not to touch him` during altercation

Wellington, Mon, 26 Aug 2013 ANI

Wellington, Aug 26 (ANI): Australian captain Michael Clarke has explained his angry reaction to being pushed away by umpire Aleem Dar at the end of the last Ashes test, saying he told the umpire not to touch him.

According to stuff.co.nz, the captain was arguing with umpires as light faded on Sunday evening at the Oval with England requiring 21 runs to win from four over to clinch a 4-0 series win.

Dar pushed Clarke away from him before the day was abandoned due to bad light, the report said.

Clarke was loudly booed by the capacity crowd during the presentation ceremony afterwards despite having made the bold declaration at tea that set up the chance of a result either way rather than a dull draw, the report added.

He later said that he had politely told Dar not to touch him because if he touched him, he would be suspended for three matches. (ANI)
