The Dark Knight Rises staring Christian Bale has collected $162 million in the box office in America in opening weekend and has broken all previous records.
Warner Bros. decided not to release figures till Monday due to the mass shooting at a Colorado movie theatre during a midnight screening.
"Out of respect for the victims and their families Warner Bros. Pictures will not be reporting box office numbers for 'The Dark Knight Rises' throughout the weekend. Box office numbers will be released on Monday," the studio said.
Despite the tragedy, film is likely to do well at the box office over the weekend.
TDKR made 30 million dollars in presale tickets.
It is believed that the film might top the record-breaking, 207.4-million-dollar debut of 'The Avengers'.
The Dark Knight Rises is the end of Trilogy made by Director Christopher Nolan.
