Maruti Suzuki Prices 2012: MSI hikes car prices by Rs.17,000

The Impact of recently presented Union Budget 2012 is now showing its impact before being implemented in the system, as Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), India's biggest car maker and exporter on Sunday has announced to hike the price of its cars in its different variants by up to Rs.17,000.

Prices of vehicles are being hiked due to 2% hike in excise duty, announced by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the budget proposals for 2012-13. Pranab has announced to hike excise duty from 10% to 12%.

Maruti Suszuki India has announced that the hike in excise duty will affect the prices of its several models ranging from the Maruti 800 to mid-sized sedan SX4.

"There has been an average increase in prices of our vehicles by 1.75 per cent after the budget," Maruti's Managing Executive Officer, (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said.

According to latest Maruti Suzuki Price 2012, MSI's Alto will be now dearer between Rs.4,200 and Rs.5,900 from its current priced at between Rs.2.4 lakh to Rs.3.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The price of Alto K10 will rise to between Rs.5,500 and Rs.5,700. It is currently priced at between Rs.3.14 lakh and Rs.3.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Wagon R will now be dearer by Rs.6,000 to Rs.7,600. It is currently priced at between Rs.3.47 lakh and Rs.4.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The premium hatchback Swift will now cost Rs.7,700 to Rs.11,900 more depending on variants. It is priced between Rs.4.44 lakh and Rs.6.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The newly launched Swift Dzire will be more expensive by Rs.8,500 to Rs.12,700. It is priced at Rs.4.8 lakh and Rs. 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The mid-sized sedan SX4 will now cost Rs.9,400 to Rs.17,000 more. It's prices range from Rs.7.11 lakh to Rs. 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
