Sachin Tendulkar's yearlong wait for century

New Delhi, Mon, 12 Mar 2012 NI Wire

Sachin Tendulkar also called the Master Blaster and Bombay Bomber has not scored a century for a year. It is appears strange in the records of a cricketer who is well known for his successive centuries.

On the March 12, 2011 Tendulkar had scored a hundred in a league match against South Africa. Since then his willow has not delivered a single century required to make century of centuries. With every match the expectations of the fans keep rising. The God of Cricket as he is called by his followers has scored 99 centuries in 51 tests and 48 ODI’s. The year 1998 was superb for him when he scored 12 centuries. In 1999 and 2000 he made 8 centuries in each year.

There are a large number of occasions when he missed his ton from a low margin. In the World Cup semi final against Pakistan he made 85 runs but could not convert it into three figures. In the recent England tour he scored 91 in the second inning of the test at The oval but he could not convert it into century. In the Mumbai Test against West Indies he made 94 runs but fall prey to nervous nineties. In the second test against Australia in Sydney he made 80 runs but could not get the elusive century.

He is all set to play in Asia Cup in Dhaka, will Sachin score a century there. We hope so!
