Television actor Gurmeet Choudhary, has won Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 after beating his rival contestants Rashami Desai Sandhu and Rithvik Dhanjani in the grand finale on Oct 30. Gurmeet impressed the judges and the audiences with his stylish dance moves along with her choreographer partner Shampa during the entire show to make into the finals, though he was not the among the top scorers of the show.
After winning the show Gurmeet is overwhelmed and eyeing the Bollywood as his next destination.
"I always wanted to do films. I hope directors have seen me perform in Jhalak... and I get a call from them that they want to cast me as the lead actor in their film," Gurmeet told IANS over the phone from Mumbai.
Pretending to be elective in the selection of movies he wants to do, Gurmeet said "People have always liked me in both action and romantic roles, so I would like to do a full packaged film that gives me a chance to do a little bit of both."
"I never looked at 'Jhalak...' like a competition, I just performed and tried giving my best. The people who voted for me are not my fans, I see them as my family. I just returned their love by putting my best foot forward and winning the show. Honestly, I am very satisfied with my performances," said Gurmeet.
Expressing his gratitude to wife Debina for her constant support, he said "Debina is my lucky charm. She was always there on the sets during my performance. Sometimes when she used to miss coming for the show because of her shoot, I used to get low marks.
"I am grateful to her for her support throughout this journey. I would not have done this without her," added the 28-year-old, who had many ups and downs on the show and was seen in the danger zone too.
Gurmeet, who made his debut on the small screen in 2006 as Lord Rama in the mythological epicRamayana gained much popularity from the soap Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi in 2010 where he played the role of braggart businessmen Maan Singh Khurana.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 was judged by actress Madhuri Dixit, filmmaker Karan Johar and choreographer Remo D'Souza.
