Colombian envoy seeks U.S. apology for ruining Cartagena's image

Washington, Mon, 30 Apr 2012 ANI

Washington, Apr 30 (ANI): Colombia's Ambassador to the United States, Gabriel Silva, has sought an apology from President Barack Obama for damaging the reputation of his country through the sex scandal that involved Secret Service agents.

According to the Daily Mail, Silva expressed anger over the handling of the issue by the media, which focused on Cartegena's sex industry, where prostitution is legal.

'A more clear expression of remorse is required to protect the reputation of Cartagena,' Silva said.

President Obama has described the prostitution scandal as 'a little distracting' and branded the 12 agents involved as 'knuckleheads'.

A dozen Secret Service employees, including two supervisors, and 12 military personnel have been implicated.

The Secret Service is also investigating a news report claiming that its employees allegedly engaged with prostitutes in El Salvador on another trip abroad before the president's visit. (ANI)
