Obama Romney in 'dead heat' but neither conjectured to 'fix' economy': Poll

Washington, Apr 26 (ANI): Although the race between US presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama is currently deacklocked after a tie in the vote results, neither contender is expected to fix the US economy, according to voters in a latest poll.

The Fox News poll showed that President Obama and presumptive Republican nominee Romney were both at 46 percent, if the election were held today.

According to poll, women are more likely to back Obama by 47-42 percent along with working moms by 55-32 percent, Fox News reports.

However, Romney is backed by men by 49-45 percent and also has a 13 point advantage over Obama among Independent voters. The Tea Party movement backed Romney by 83-8 percent.

The polls also revealed that seven in 10 voters say they are either "extremely" or "very" interested in the presidential election. Interest among Democrats is at its highest level this year with 70 percent, although it remains a bit lower than enthusiasm among Republicans with 75 percent.

36 percent voters think that Obama has a "clear plan for fixing the economy" as opposed to Romney with 31 percent. However, Romney has an advantage over the president among voters who are "extremely" concerned about the economy by 13 points and the future of the country by 16 points.

But, in general, about six in 10 think neither Obama 61 percent nor Romney 58 percent has a plan to fix the economy.

Over 75 percent of Republicans have a favorable opinion of Romney in contrast to 87 percent of Democrats who support Obama. (ANI)
