PML-N rejects judicial commission probe of deadly Bhoja aircrash

Islamabad, Mon, 23 Apr 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 23(ANI): The opposition Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz has slammed the 'controversial makeup' of the judicial commission formed to probe last Friday's deadly Bhoja aircrash.

Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan claimed that the Pakistan government had formed the judicial commission without the Supreme Court's consent.

"The so-called commission cannot be termed a 'judicial' commission, which has been set up to cover up facts," The Express Tribune quoted him, as saying.

He added that a judicial commission should include serving judges and should be set up either in consultation with a high court chief justice or the Pakistan Chief Justice.

The judges, who took oath under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO) of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, faced contempt charges themselves and did not qualify to be called judges, he added.

The commission named by the Pakistan Government to probe the aircrash comprises Justice (retired) Syed Zahid Hussain and Justice (retired) Nasim Sikandar and a police official to be appointed by the interior ministry.

Chaudhry Nisar warned that his party would "challenge this cover-up even if we have to go to the courts"

Chaudhry Nisar also accused one of the commission's members of being a 'blue-eyed' official of President Zardari.

"Can the prime minister not help appointing controversial persons?" "It is a planned move as the commission will do whatever is desired by the government," he added. (ANI)
