ANP backs Sharif's call for Siachen troop withdrawal

Islamabad, Sun, 22 Apr 2012 ANI

Islamabad, April 22(ANI): The Awami National Party (ANP) has backed Pakistan Muslim League-N president Nawaz Sharif's call for the withdrawal of troops and the demilitarisation of the Siachen Glacier.

"The PML-N chief was right in his call for troops pullout from Siachen," The Dawn quoted ANP central spokesman and Senator Zahid Khan, as saying after inaugurating Bacha Khan Medical OPD building at the district headquarters hospital.

He said the ANP, however, believed in negotiations for resolving all issues.

Khan said both Pakistan and India should pull out their troops from the Siachen Galcier and settle the issue through a dialogue.

He also announced 20 million rupees in aid for provision of medical facilities for the hospital and asked its administration to make it a model hospital.

"The government is committed to providing health and education facilities to people of the far-flung areas," he said. (ANI)
