Inexperienced Starc in contention to play against Windies in Dominica

Port of Spain, Apr 21 (ANI): Inexperienced pacer Mitchell Starc can get a chance to play against the West Indies in the third Test due to injuries to fast bowlers Peter Siddle and James Pattinson.

Injury has robbed Pattinson of the chance of gaining experience before next year's Ashes series in England.

Ryan Harris will come back into the side for the third and final Test after being rested from the second Test following his workload in Bridgetown, leaving Starc and Michael Beer to fight for the final berth in the attack.

Starc has worked hard in the nets since arriving in the Caribbean six weeks ago, but has not played a match since a Shield clash with Queensland at the start of last month, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

"[It's] disappointing we lose two very good bowlers. It's a really good opportunity, if we go with three fast bowlers, to go with Mitchell Starc," Clarke said.

"I think he bowled very well throughout the Australian summer. He's bowling very well in the nets. I've seen that first-hand and I think if he gets an opportunity he'll grab it with both hands," he said.

Pattinson and Siddle are in a race against time to be fit for Australia's tour of Britain, which starts in June with an ODI against Ireland before a five-match series against England. (ANI)
