Over 6,000 ex-PLA combatants in Nepal opt for voluntary retirement

Kathmandu, April 20 (Xinhua-ANI): A total of 6,574 ex-Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (UCPN-M)'s People's Liberation Army combatants have opted for voluntary retirement at the end of the timeline specified for the second round of regrouping of the ex-Maoist combatants on Thursday.

According to Army Integration Special Committee Secretariat Coordinator Balananda Sharma, only 3,129 combatants remain in the cantonments.

The combatants who opted for voluntary retirement received their paycheck and left the cantonments.

The team of the secretariat is returning to capital Kathmandu with the completion of the regrouping.

The second round of regrouping conducted by the Army Integration Special Committee has concluded at all the seven divisions in Nepal that began on April 14. (Xinhua-ANI)
