Afghan Islamist organization calls on Taliban to consult other groups for restoring peace

Islamabad, Tue, 10 Apr 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 10(ANI) - Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), an Islamist organization, has called on the Taliban to consult other forces in Afghanistan for restoring peace in the country.

HIA political affairs incharge Dr Ghairat Baheer said that resolution of Afghan problem was a viable option that could ensure peace.

He added the peace talks were the only way forward and even the US was now realising it.

"So why we should suspend talks, but we demand that the points shared with the officials in Kabul should be cared about," The Nation quoted him, as saying.

He also rejected reports that claimed the HIA has suspended peace talks with the Afghan government and the US.

Baheer said talks were underway but the important point that needed to be focused on was the withdrawal of the foreign forces from the country, which is crucial to restoring peace in the country. (ANI)
