Pak party says re-opening NATO supply routes be made conditional with ending drone strikes

Peshawar , Sun, 08 Apr 2012 ANI

Peshawar, Apr 8(ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed has said that his party had proposed that re- opening of non-weapon supplies for the NATO forces in Afghanistan should be made conditional for ending drone attacks in Pakistan.

"In the Parliamentary Committee for National Security, we proposed that food and medicine supplies for NATO troops may be allowed and in return the US should be asked to shut down its drone programme in Pakistan. We are opposed to weapons' supplies for Nato forces through Pakistan," The News quoted Syed, as saying.

He said the United States was showing flexibility in its policy towards Pakistan, after seeing unanimous stance of the civil and military leadership over NATO supplies.

Hussain Syed said they had given recommendations to Parliamentary Committee on National Security, and it would take up the issue on April 9.

He also said the US had made a mistake by announcing reward money for Saaed's capture.

"The United Kingdom has also described the US action as wrong. It took this decision to please India and I think it will add to hatred against America in Pakistan," he added. (ANI)
