BJP-ruled states progressing well: Gadkari

New Delhi, Fri, 06 Apr 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Apr 6 (ANI): A confident Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Friday said states ruled by the BJP, or its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition were showing signs of great progress.

Addressing BJP party workers at a function here today, Gadkari said states like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh were improving under several economic parameters due to a BJP or an NDA Government.

"If the parameters of industrial development, GDP, per capita income, progress and development are gauged, then all the states that are being ruled by the NDA or the Bharatiya Janata Party are doing such great work. There is no doubt in it," said Gadkari.

"I don't mean to say that whatever we have is enough. We have to do more work ahead and our main goal is the eradication of poverty," he added, while emphasizing that a lot more needs to be done.

Gadkari further said the BJP was on track to launch a master plan highlighting development goals for the country.

"By the end of this year, the India Vision 2025, a master plan by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the development of the country will make the country a happy and self sufficient one. Our dream of making India a world superpower will definitely be realised. I give you all this promise," he said.

Gadkari also hit out at the Congress-led UPA Government for failing to implement economic policies geared to combat slow growth and high inflation.

"Today the American economy has gone down. The European countries are in trouble. The world is looking at India and China with expectations. Opportunities are staring us in the face. But under the present conditions, we are going backwards instead of forward," said Gadkari.

"The main reason is because of poor economic policies and bad and corrupts governance. We will change this. There will be a change in governance. Our mission is to make our country a strong, happy and self sufficient superpower in 2014," he added. (ANI)
