Tatra truck row: CBI issues restraint order on Vectra chief Ravi Rishi

New Delhi, Sun, 01 Apr 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Apr.1 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday issued a restraint order on non-resident Indian (NRI) businessman Ravi Rishi from leaving the country, as it said that the latter would be needed for questioning next week in connection with a case related to the supply of Tatra trucks to the Indian army.

Acting on Chief of Army Staff General V.K. Singh's charge that he had been offered a bribe of Rs.14 crore to clear the supply of 600 sub-standard vehicles to the Indian army, the CBI issued a lookout notice in the name of Vectra boss Rishi.

The CBI says that it needs more proof and specific details from General Singh before it can register a case.

On Saturday, Defence Research and Development Organisation chief V.K. Saraswat defended the supply and use of Tatra trucks in the army, describing the vehicle as an outstanding one.

He also said that the army chief and Defence Minister A.K. Antony should tread cautiously and sort out their differences. (ANI)
