Ryder to go 'out of pocket' during IPL to ensure success

Wellington, Sun, 01 Apr 2012 ANI

Wellington, Apr 1(ANI): Kiwi all-rounder Jesse Ryder will look after the expenses of his clinical psychologist and manager during his Indian Premier League stint.

Ryder's manager Aaron Klee said the commitment reflected the Kiwi cricketer's determination to get himself back on tracks.

Klee confirmed that Ryder would foot the bill for the flights, accommodation and psychologist Nimmo's time, meaning there is even a possibility he might find himself out of pocket at the end of this year's IPL.

"This is all at Jesse's cost. We're looking at flights, expenses, time costs and six weeks' worth of accommodation in hotels. The cost is not insignificant at all, and I believe, it really shows Jesse's commitment to get this right and put his career back on track," stuff.co.nz quoted Klee, as saying.

"It is a small investment in his future when you look at the fact he is only 27.Money has never been a motivator for Jesse - he grew up with very little, he expects very little, and he has more than he ever dreamed he would have at 27," he added.

His statement came after Ryder made his comeback away from the spotlight by playing for Wellington club side Naenae Old Boys.

It was his first cricket appearance since he withdrew during the South African one-day series.

He, subsequently, withdrew from Wellington's Plunket Shield campaign.

Ryder will be paid a maximum of US150,000 dollars ($180,000) before Indian and New Zealand tax if he takes part in all IPL games and his franchise qualifies for the Champions League.

But he could realistically net less than half that amount if Pune Warriors fails to fire or he is ruled out of any game. (ANI)
