London, Apr 1(ANI): Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham will lead the tributes to legendary footballer Sir Tom Finney at his 90th birthday celebrations this week.
MK Dons League One clash at Deepdale on Saturday against Finney's beloved Preston will be observed as a day of celebration for the former England international.
Beckham, who played for Preston during the 1994-95 season to get some first team experience, scored two goals in five appearances for them, and one of them was with his trademark corner kick.
The Lilywhites will host a huge party with the hope of a bumper crowd honoring one of the game's greatest ever players, Finney.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will also pay tribute to Finney by video, along with Prime Minister David Cameron and FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
FA chairman David Bernstein will attend the game, which takes place a day after a charity football match between an England legends XI and a Preston legends XI.
The club's chairman Peter Ridsdale is expecting to increase the attendance for the MK Dons clash.
"Sir Tom Finney was one of the greats, both on and off the pitch. He was not only one of the best players the world has ever seen he was also, and remains, a true gentleman," The Mirror quoted Ridsdale, as saying.
Finney played 76 times for England, scoring 30 goals in the process. He was then knighted for his many services to football, and was distinguished for his remarkable loyalty to one club. (ANI)
