Cowell's ex Sinitta wants him to move house after intruder incident

London, Thu, 29 Mar 2012 ANI

London, Mar 29 (ANI): Simon Cowell's former girlfriend Sinitta has urged the telly mogul to move into a new house or "build a fortress" over fears that a deranged fan will murder him.

Cowell, 52, was rocked when he came face-to-face with a female intruder on Saturday night.

She allegedly broke in through an upstairs bathroom window armed with a brick while he was watching himself on TV.

Sinitta described the incident as "like a nightmare" and urged Simon to rethink his security.

However, the singer - who dated Simon while he managed her pop career in the Eighties - fears he will be reluctant to quit his 9-million-pound west London mansion because he has spent so much cash renovating it.

"Simon has to come to terms with looking after himself properly now he's reached that level of fame," the Sun quoted her as telling TV Biz.

"It's a scary thing. Hopefully the intruder didn't want to harm him but they could have.

"If it had been someone else with an obsession they could have killed him.

"I'm trying to persuade him to move or build a fortress around the house. It was alarming for him, it was like a nightmare. It can't happen again," she said.

Cowell has spoken to Sinitta on the phone since the "nightmare" event and has already moved to tighten his personal security.

"He ought to move now so he doesn't have to worry but he has spent a fortune renovating his home, and he's been renovating it for so long," she said.

"He's finally got it how he wants it so it would be a shame to move.

"I don't know if he would be able to get planning permission for huge gates and he probably wouldn't like that either. Personally, I got upset with his security. For me, where were they?" she added. (ANI)
