Islamabad, Mar 27 (ANI): The Pakistan Supreme Court (SC) has adjourned the hearing of contempt of court case against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani till April 12.

Gilani's lawyer, Aitzaz Ahsan, was yesterday unable to appear before a seven-judge bench led by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk as he had food poisoning.

When proceedings resumed today, the bench asked the lawyer if he was fit to continue his arguments. Ahsan replied that he would be unable to do so, The News reports. seven-member bench, headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk, had rejected Ahsan's plea to adjourn his client's contempt of court case for a week.

Barrister Ali Gohar appeared on behalf of Ahsan and submitted an application to adjourn the case for a week, informing the court that Ahsan was suffering from food poisoning and was unable to travel to Islamabad.

The court, however, turned down the application and adjourned the hearing for Tuesday (today).
