TRS calls for Telangana shutdown on Tuesday

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Mon, 26 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar.26 (ANI): The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Monday said that he would organize a shutdown in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

It said that the shutdown was being organized to protest the government's apparent indifference towards the separate statehood issue.

In Delhi, Telangana Members of Parliament shouted slogans in Parliament after two students demanding separate statehood for Telangana set fire to themselves. One of the two students died.

In Hyderabad, TRS MLAs were participating in a sit down demonstration outside the Andhra Pradesh state assembly, forcing it to adjourn for the day.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Prakash Javadekar accused the UPA-II regime of forming "time-killing" committees to look into the Telangana issue.

He warned that Telangana residents could not be kept waiting indefinitely, and urged the central government to bring a bill on Telangana in the budget session. (ANI)
