Zardari stops Malik from going to Bangladesh for Asia Cup

Islamabad, Mar 17 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has stopped Interrior Minister Rehman Malik from travelling to Bangladesh to watch the Pakistan and India Asia Cup match to be played on 18th of this month.

 

Earlier during Bangladesh security team visit to Pakistan, BCB chief Mustafa Kamal had extended an invitation to Malik to witness the Pakistan-India contest, which Rehman Malik had accepted.

 

According to inside sources, the current situation in the country, specially the wave of extortion mafia in Karachi as well a joint session of Parliament, in which President Asif Ali Zardari is due to address parliamentarians promted Zardari to advise Malik not to go to Bangladesh, The News reports.

 

Malik confirmed that Zardari had advised him to postpone the Bangladesh visit, saying: "Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf will represent me at this event, and I am very hopeful that international cricket will be revived in the country very soon." (ANI)
