Ex Kiwi quick O'Brien says he has seen "dodgy" cricket incidents in India, England, Oz

Wellington,Mar 13(ANI): Former Kiwi seamer Iain O'Brien has claimed to have seen "dodgy" cricket incidents in India, England and Australia and added it will be naive to assume New Zealand players had not been approached by bookmakers.

O'Brien watched televised Twenty20 matches during Australia's recent Big Bash in which "there was stuff that didn't look quite right", and witnessed some eyebrow-raising moments in English county cricket.

"I've seen some stuff that I don't necessarily agree with, a bit unexplainable. Everywhere. I've seen plenty in India, and I've seen it with my own eyes a couple of times in games that I've commentated on in the UK, stuff that just doesn't make sense, with guys with possible history in it. But that's all I can say. It's all hearsay, and that's the most dangerous," quoted O'Brien,as saying.

"I don't know of anyone but I'm sure there has been. There has to be. You're naive to think they haven't been," he said,on being asked if he thought whether any Kiwi players have been approached by bookmakers.

O'Brien, however, said he had never been approached by bookmakers.

He reckoned that another newspaper sting operation might be required to prove match-fixing or spot-fixing allegations.

His statement came after a British newspaper, Sunday Times carried out a sting operation in which Indian bookmaker Vicky Seth admitted that he had "connections with New Zealanders". (ANI)
