BJP, Congress leaders equally involved in MP illegal mining: Sharad Yadav

New Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav on Friday condemned the brutal killing of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Narendra Kumar Singh, and held leaders of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress Party equally responsible for illegal mining in Madhya Pradesh.

"I am saying that regarding the young IPS officer murdered in Morena, the ones who have the lease for mining in that area should be arrested under section 302. I have been saying this from a long time, from Jabalpur to Satana, and also in the reserve forest areas of Bandhavgarh, the mineral resources of the state are being robbed," Yadav told the media here.

"Both BJP and Congress leaders are looting the natural resources in the state. The Madhya Pradesh government should take immediate and strict action against the culprits," he added.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has ordered a judicial inquiry to probe the death of Narendra Kumar.

Narendra Kumar, who was posted at Banmore as Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), had taken on the mining mafia by seizing number of trucks and tractors engaged in illegal quarrying.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon when Singh, who was patrolling the area in his official jeep, noticed a tractor-trolley loaded with stones following which he overtook it and signalled the driver to stop it.

But the tractor driver drove on and knocked down the 30-year-old officer, who was crushed under the wheels. (ANI)
