Indian, Italian PMs' discuss Kerala fishermen killings, reaffirm importance of bilateral ties

New Delhi, Mar.8 (ANI): Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh late on Wednesday to condole the deaths of two fishermen in a tragic incident off the coast of Kerala.

 

A release issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that Prime Minister Monti expressed regret over the incident.

 

It also said that the two leaders reaffirmed the importance of deepening relations between India and Italy and agreed that the issues that had arisen following the incident should be resolved amicably in accordance with law and in the spirit of friendship that characterizes relations between the two countries.

 

The two leaders said that they were looking forward to meeting each other at the forthcoming Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul.(ANI)
