New Delhi, Wed, 07 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi/ Geneva, Mar.7 (ANI): The World Economic Forum (WEF) has selected Mr. Binoy Job as "Young Global Leader" for effectively using the medium of media to usher in social change.

Job, who is currently, Director (Media and Communications) in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), has also led many social interventions for eradicating poverty.

To be selected as one of the WEF's "Young Global Leaders" is an achievement, as the organization screens thousands of nominated candidates before choosing between 100 and 200 extraordinary individuals for the distinguished honour.

The selection is made with a view on which individuals under the age of 40 in the eyes of WEF are likely to impact global affairs over the coming decades and share a commitment to making the world a better place.

In the WEF's view, Mr. Job matched the selection criteria, as he is the first professional from the field of development communication and television to be inducted into the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Under Mr. Job's leadership, the PMO has established a media production centre to disseminate information faster through print, broadcast and social media.

Mr. Job is also involved with a dozen social ventures. With more than 2000 stories, his "Development Channel" is the largest Development news portal in the world.

He is also the brain behind leadership movements for social change like the "Leaders for Tomorrow".

Such social interventions have fetched him recognitions like the British Chevening Fellowship, the Asia21 Young Leader and the Asian Television Awards.

Mr. Job hails from a humble family and is the son of a little educated farmer. He has dedicated his life to fighting poverty and empowering citizens, particularly the youth.

A government school product, he was educated in Kainakary, Kerala, before graduating in journalism from Delhi University and pursuing another course in Leadership and Globalisation at the London School of Economics. (ANI)
