Patna, Mar 5 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui on Monday slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Government in Bihar for the declining law and order situation in the state taking into account the horrific limb mutilation case.
Siddiqui said the citizens did not trust the government any more.
"In the state there is no kind of law and order. People have lost any kind of faith they had in the government. Now anyone can take the law in their hands and get away with it. As you can see there are incidents of someone being castrated, someone's limbs being chopped off. I would also like to congratulate the media for bringing up the issue very well," he said.
Bihar Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, however, defended the government, and said that an inquiry into the unfortunate incident has been ordered and that the opposition parties should not be impatient.
"After hearing reports in the media we instantly ordered an inquiry into the incident. In fact, we told the opposition also that we will present the inquiry report to the assembly when it is completed. Also, the opposition should be patient and have some faith in the government. We will ensure that the culprits are caught and punished," said Choudhary.
A 20-year-old daily wageworker, Ram Sagar Chandravanshi, was assaulted and one of his hands dismembered after he refused to work for free for contractors in lieu of Rs 300 that he owed.
The appalling incident took place in Bihar's Arwal District, about 80 kilometers from state capital Patna. (ANI)
