Islamabad, Mar 3 (ANI): The US Treasury has slapped sanctions on an alleged top bomb-maker of the Taliban to further cut off his and the Afghan insurgency's access to financial support.
The Treasury said Abdul Samad Achekzai has a central role in Taliban operations building improvised explosive devices (IED) in western and southern Afghanistan, the Daily Times reports.
Samad was responsible for getting the materials for the IEDs, building them, and training others to do so, the Treasury said in a statement.
The roadside bombs have contributed to a large proportion of the death of coalition troops battling the insurgency in the country.
Samad has deployed a number of suicide bomb attacks against coalition forces and Afghan authorities as well. (ANI)
