Islamabad, Mar 3 (ANI): The Memo Gate commission has asked former Pakistan ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani to appear before it on March 15.
The judicial commission resumed hearing a day after Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz recorded his statement through a video link from London and asked the authorities concerned to submit a record of the telephone bills of the former ambassador, The Nation reports.
Following the revelation of Ijaz, that President Asif Ali Zardari was aware of the Abbottabad operation that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden by US Special Forces on May 2, 2011, analysts were under the impression that next hearing of judicial commission would be of great importance.
Following a short session of proceedings at the Islamabad High Court, the head of the commission, Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, directed the attorney general to ensure that the government would submit the telephone bills of Haqqani's official cell phone connection before the next hearing on March 15.
The commission also directed Ijaz to appear before the commission on the same date at 9 am via video link from the Pakistani High Commission in London.arlier, Ijaz told the commission that there was a real threat of a military coup in Pakistan following the Abbottabad raid, adding that he decided to forward the memo to General James Jones after that.
Ijaz agreed to provide all the details about of the meetings between General Kayani and President Zardari after the May 2 raid. (ANI)
