Manmohan Singh congratulates poll-bound Goa for hosting national games

Sakhali (Goa), Mar 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has congratulated the authorities in Goa for being chosen to host the 36th National Games.

 

Dr. Singh extended his heartiest wishes while addressing a public meeting at Sakhali district in Goa on Wednesday.

 

"I am very happy that Goa will host the national games for the first time. I am confident that Goa will be a successful host and the young players of Goa will become more famous in the world after it," he said.

 

Singh also applauded the Central Government's effort of establishing a technical college for producing scientists and engineers from the province.

 

"We want that the young boys and girls from Goa get an equal opportunity to become successful engineers and scientists. The Indian government has sanctioned around Rs. 300 crore and established a National Institute of Technology," added Singh.r. Singh further said that the Central Government has been sending huge funds for the development of the state and hailed the chief minister for using the money well in different projects.

 

"Since past three years the government has given Goa a help of around Rs. 50 crore under the National Rural Health Mission, mid-day meal scheme and education for all scheme," he said.

 

The election in Goa will coincide with the last phase in Uttar Pradesh on March 3. (ANI)
