13th National Road Safety Council meeting to be held tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): The 13th National Road Safety Council (NRSC) meeting is going to be held here on Wednesday.

 

The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Dr. C.P. Joshi in the National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC) Complex, Pusa Road, New Delhi along with ministers of states of the Ministry, transport ministers of all states/UTs, DGs/IGs of the police of all states/UTs, representatives of various central government ministries, departments, institutions, NGOs, transport associations and other non-official members of the NRSC.

 

The meeting will be focussing on the synthesis report prepared by the ministry containing recommendations of all the five working groups on four Es of road safety, which had been set up on the recommendations of last meeting of NRSC.

 

Other items included in the agenda improvement of 'Vahan' and 'Sarathy' scheme of the ministry, action against overloading, drunken driving, enforcement of use of seatbelts and helmets, identification of black spots (accident prone spots), road accident crash investigation, setting up of State Road Safety Councils and district road safety committees in each state/district, and accreditation of driving institutes etc.

 

The meeting will also discuss practices followed by Government of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the matter of road accident data management system. Enforcement of provisions of MV Act, 1988 by Delhi Traffic Police specially on drunken driving and emergency medical services being provided by GVK-EMRI, Assam and will be shared with the members of NRSC for replication in all States.

 

The 6th National Road Safety awards, both in the individual and NGO category, will also be distributed to the winners during the event by Dr. Joshi. (ANI)
