US Govt. should no longer be grilled over Balochistan resolution: Khar

Islamabad, Tue, 28 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 28 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has backed the Obama Administration on the issue of the Balochistan resolution, saying that it was an act of an individual and that his views were different from that of the US government.

There was no need on part of the US government to present an explanation on that resolution of the House of Representative, but still they did it out of consideration and for good ties with Pakistan, she said.

"The US (government) should not be grilled over the matter anymore," The Nation quoted her, as saying.

Khar, who met US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in London on Thursday, said the latter told her that as the Pakistan government cannot stop any parliamentarian from presenting any resolution in the country's parliament, so is the situation in the US.

She said she (Hillary) told her that had the US government supported the move, then there would have been a good reason to complain.

Khar said Hillary told her that the US government has repeatedly termed Balochistan as Pakistan's internal matter, and there had been no change in that stance.

US acting ambassador Richards Hoagland on Sunday said the US Congress would not adopt the resolution moved on the Balochistan issue. (ANI)
