Kangra, Feb 26 (ANI): A vintage car rally hosted by Chandigarh reached Himachal Pradesh.

Fourteen vintage cars were put on display at a polytechnic college in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra District with the message of preserving the old heritage of the country.

Participants said the motive of this rally was to educate youth about the evolution of automobile industry.

"We brought these cars here because the younger generation, for example students, have not these seen theses cars in real life. But this is a unique kind of presentation, they can enquire about it, they can see it. Like all of them have taken photographs. So I am sure they will take care of the photographs also. So, these cars need to be preserved, otherwise if these cars are finished, then our history of the cars will go," said Tapish, owner of a vintage car and participant.

The owners said they face a hard time in preserving these classics, due to unavailability of spare parts. But nevertheless they were elated for owning vintage cars.

Founder Secretary of the Vintage and Classic Car Club B S Mancko said students learn better with visuals than by books, so these cars were brought to their college. However, it was tough for them to reach the place because of the hilly terrains.

"These cars are very fragile cars, they are like delicate ladies, they can't run on rough roads. So, for them it was a little tough drive to this place. We hope that our journey back would be safe and better and we request the Himachal Government to improve their roads, so that more and more such rallies take place. As far as Himachal is concerned, this is also a promotion of Himachal tourism," said Mancko.

Through the four-day rally the people of the state got a glimpse of an extensive range of vintage cars ranging from 1936-model Dodge car, Morris 1948, Baby Hindustan 1958, Chevrolet Master 1938 and Humber 1931. (ANI)
